An Invitation to Celebrate 50 Years of Cultural Resilience in Cambodia

An Invitation to Celebrate 50 Years of Cultural Resilience in Cambodia

This November 15-24, join us for a remarkable journey celebrating Cambodia’s cultural resilience and renewal. Our cultural delegation, themed “Arts for Transformation: Celebrate 50 Years of Cultural Resilience“, explores how arts have flourished despite historical challenges.

Half a century after one of Cambodia’s darkest periods – when we lost 90% of our artists and cultural practitioners – we have witnessed an inspiring renaissance. Today, a new generation of artists and cultural practitioners has emerged, breathing new life into our traditions while creating contemporary expressions.

Over ten days, we’ll journey through Siem Reap, Battambang, and Phnom Penh, experiencing both traditional and contemporary arts. You’ll meet master artists preserving our heritage, connect with emerging artists, and witness how the Cambodian diaspora is reimagining our cultural identity.

Join us in this celebration of Cambodia’s cultural legacy. For registration or inquiries, contact us at development@cambodianlivingarts.org.

Delegation Attendee’s Testimonies

CLA’s Cultural Delegation tour provided a transformative experience: a close-up look at life in Cambodia through the eyes of the esteemed artists we met and spent time with, the richness of the country’s culture and history, and the beautiful spirit and talent of its people. I am grateful for this experience._Catherine Hyman

The tour taught us so much about Cambodia, and with that comes an understanding of a different way of life, and the massive struggle to emerge from a national tragedy. It demonstrated the impressive work of CLA, and this tour could build enthusiasm in potential donors._Richard Hyman

Embark on a Journey to the Heart of Cambodia’s Three Cities

Our adventure begins in the mesmerizing city of Siem Reap, the gateway to the world-renowned temples of Angkor. These temples stand as a testament to the city’s breathtaking architectural prowess and are a sight to behold. As one of the most important archaeological sites in South-East Asia, Siem Reap has a long and rich tradition of artistry that is deeply embedded in its culture. Given its historical significance and the wealth of knowledge it holds, it is no surprise that it has become the residence for a multitude of historical and cultural experts.

These experts are the custodians of the city’s past, preserving and continuing its traditional music and arts. They serve as a bridge between the past and the present, ensuring that the rich cultural heritage of Siem Reap is passed down to future generations.

Phnom Penh, the vibrant capital city of Cambodia, serves as the cultural, commercial, and political hub of the nation. This bustling city, teeming with life, is where CLA’s main office is situated and where our dedicated team works tirelessly. It’s in this dynamic cityscape that we conclude our journey. In Phnom Penh, we have the privilege of meeting and interacting with some of the country’s most innovative and highly recognized artists.

Their creative expressions and unique perspectives add diverse colors to Cambodia’s rich cultural tapestry. Alongside these established artists, we also have the opportunity to engage with enthusiastic young students. These students, brimming with potential, represent the promising next generation of artists and creative thinkers in Cambodia.
